The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District (BCISD) offers  Greenhouse, Agriculture and Floral Design programs to middle school students.

Since 2006, Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association (HLMGA) has partnered with BCISD to provide assistance with horticultural projects including instruction, garden bed work, plant sales and provision of materials such as potting soil, pots, seeds and plant cuttings. One of the major ongoing activities is a series of hands-on work days for Master Gardeners and students in the greenhouse.

Propagation classes begin the the fall semester. Master Gardeners provide plant cuttings, instruction and assistance to students as they propagate plants for their spring plant sale.

In the second semester, Master Gardeners supervise students planting seeds in trays and later bumping them up into pots to provide vegetables herbs and flowers for sale. Sale days are open to the public and are enthusiastically   attended. We provide horticultural information to customers while students assist them with their purchases. The proceeds from these sales help fund the BMS Greenhouse Program. The opportunity to interact with students and provide horticultural education is a rewarding experience for all concerned.
